PAD 'being offered graceful exit'

The government is offering a graceful exit to the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) to leave Government House, a PAD source said.

The source, who asked not to be named, said the government is trying to negotiate to set up a joint-committee to develop the "new politics".

The source said many PAD leaders had learned of the government's plan to set up a government-PAD joint-committee similar to when the Democrat government appointed senior citizen Prawase Wasi to head a committee for political reform before 1997.

The following government, led by Banharn Silapa-archa, then changed the Constitution to enable a charter drafting committee.
