Songkhla Mayor Uthit Chuchuay said the aquarium would be part of the province's tourism promotion campaign. As the province is home to marine, freshwater and semi-salted water lives, the aquarium would be attractive. He expected the new attraction would generate at least Bt50 million in revenue in the first year and should break even within 2 years.
Tourism Authority of Thailand is now drawing a new promotion, to be offered to tour agencies in Malaysia and Singapore. It expects the aquarium to boost the number of family visitors.
