
"I'm disappointed. Several politicians still hold power at key ministries and this highlights the bargains among politicial parties," Pramon said, noting that the prime minister was earlier expected to appoint experts to the key ministries - Commerce, Industry, Energy and Transport - as Thailand is suffering from economic problems.
He noted that some ministries are even under the control of ministers from the previous government, when the private sector prefers more outsiders.
Reports go that Chaiya Sasomsab will remain Commerce Minister and Santi Prompat as Transport Minister. Pracha Promnok is nominated for the Industry Ministry while an MP from Ruam Jai Thai Chart Pattana would take over the Energy Ministry.
Though, Pramon noted that Acting Deputy Finance Suchart Tadatamrongvej is qualified as the finance minister, with knowledge in economics and his experiences. Still, Suchart must work jointly with academics in formulating plans to boost the economy. Boosting confidence would be his main challenge, Pramon said.
There were reports that veteran banker Olarn Chaiprawat would be named a deputy prime minister to oversee macro-economic issues.
The Cabinet nomination has already been submitted for royal endorsement. While their names are expected this evening, the first Cabinet meeting is expected to take place on September 30.
