Chamlong: five demands are not PAD resolution

Maj General Chamlong Sriumuang, a leader of the People's Aliance for Democracy (PAD) on Thursday denied that the PAD was willing to leave Government House if the government accepted its five demands.

He said the five-point proposal was just a personal idea of Suriyasai Katasila, coordinator of the PAD and it was not a resolution of the five PAD leaders and its supporters.

He insisted the PAD would continue its sit-in protest unless the government led by the People Power Party quits.

The five demands cited by Suriyasai are; bring former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra back to Thailand to face trail, solve the problem as a result of the signing of the joint-communiqué between Thailand and Cambodia, no constitution amendment, give a clear stance on whether the government is a nominee of Thaksin, and solve the problems over the conflict of interest of Thaksin.

Chamlong on Wednesday announced the PAD's decision to give up its plan to have their daily press conference at the rally citing personal safety of reporters. "We fear that some questions from the reporters may upset the PAD protesters and the reporters may not be safe,'' he said.
