City plan for Koh Lanta in pipeline

Krabi Governor Siva Sirisaowalak is prepared to put Koh Lanta under the city plan, hoping to control the inappropriate construction and land use on the islands which has suffered from floods.

he said the floods are partly driven by encroachment and blockades of water channels. And the city plan is necessary to put things into control.

In the absence of the city plan, the administrative body would be empowered to convince business operators to allocate land for water drainage purposes. They would also issue rules to control the construction works, including the size of water drainage systems around the island.
