Court postpones Ratchadapisek verdict

The Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Political Office Holders on Wednesday postponed the verdict on the Ratchadapisek land-purchase case to October 21 after former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife Khunying Pojaman Shinawatra failed to appear before the court.

The court also ordered arrest warrants  for Thaksin and Pojaman to hear the verdict next month.

Supreme Court judge Thonglor Chomngarm led a panel of nine judges to read the verdict at 10 am but the defendants and their lawyers failed to attend the court session.

Thaksin is charged with abuse of authority as prime minister in helping his wife win at a deflated price the Bt772 million auction of a 33-rai plot of land in Ratchadapisek from the Financial Institutions Development Fund (FIDF) under the Bank of Thailand.
