3K sees lower sales
By The Nation
Thai Storage Battery, manufacturer of 3K-brand auto batteries, expects its 2008 sale to fall 10 per cent below the 2007 level due to political turmoil at home and global economic slowdown.
Managing Director Veerawat Korphaibool said that the company has also been hurt by the volatility in oil prices and the price of lead - a major raw material.
He is pessimistic that sales in the fourth quarter, normally the high season for battery market, would not be as rosy as before. The only good news is while oil prices are declining, lead has been stabilised at US$1,800-$2,000 per tonne for two months from $3,000 earlier this year. - The Nation
