Alternativefuel auto fair set to open doors

Exhibition organiser Kavin Intertrade is putting the final touches to the country's first alternativefuel automotive fair, being held in Bangkok from Thursday through Sunday.

"Thai Gas & Entertech 2008" aims at attracting more than 40,000 car users with spending expectations of Bt300 million.

The event is being held at The Mall Shopping Centre on Ngarmwongwan Road.

Managing director Kavin Kittiboonya said the fair would showcase NGV (natural gas for vehicles) and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) tanks and related products.

He said more than 70 NGV and LPG local and overseas tankmakers along with gastank installers had joined the event, which offers discounts of up to Bt6,000 per installation.

The tankmakers include Siam Inter Magnet, a local producer and importer of NGV and LPG tanks from Europe, China and South Korea; Euro Auto Gas; Versus Thailand; Paramount Inter Trade; UGS LPGCNG; and SCC Auto Service.

Tank installers at the fair are Napatara Charoen, Yont, Takuni and VRP Engineering and Training.

Auto dealers and distributors MercedesBenz, Toyota, Honda, DFM from China, Proton from Malaysia as well as caraccessory companies will be participating the show.

The event will provide the latest knowledge about the properties and installation of alternative fuels.

Customers can sign up for instalment payments at the fair from financial firms.

"Many car users are ready to switch from using petrol to gas," said Kavin.
