People want a snap election: Abac Poll

About 68 per cent want a snap election as a way out of the political turmoil and almost 54 per cent prefer Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonlee to Samak Sundaravej as prime minister, Abac Poll said in a survey released Thursday.

The opinion survey was conducted on 2,975 respondents in 18 selected provinces across the country.

Some 70 per cent said their trust in the judiciary was boosted after the Tuesday's verdict to disqualify Samak from office.

In regard to People Power Party's candidates for the position of prime minister, Deputy Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat followed Surapong as a distance second at 24 per cent and Justice Minister Sompong Amornwiwat was a third choice at 12 per cent.
