Mae Sai floods cost Bt200 mn in damage

Business operators in Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai have lost about Bt200 million, as the district has suffered from a series of floods in the past two months, according to Mae Sai Chamber of Commerce.

Buntham Thipprasong, chairman of the chamber, said that the damage is high though vendors in the border town prepared in advance. Hard hit are clothes sellers and furniture makers, whose knocked-down parts were flooded away.

He noted that the government assistance has not reached all flood victims, particularly large ones.

The Municipality is prepared to install the system to monitor upstream water level.
