All train services remain halted, including the Butterworth train between Bangkok and Malaysia's Penang. Only six local trains are operating, for travelling within the region, as most members of the labour union took leave to join anti-government protesters.
Thanongsak Phongprasert, director of the SRT's Southern operations, said SRT is now ready to resume operations whenever the workers agree to return to work.
"Throughout the 12-day, the SRT has lost Bt10 million in revenue. Tickets worth Bt2 million have been refunded," he said, adding that the public disturbance is aggravating due to the stoppage particularly in the Deep South where train service is the main transportation means.
