Pak Chong police superintendent Colonel Wiwat Silakhet said forensic officers had inspected the scene and found gunpowder all over the wall. Ceramic tiles were shattered but no wires or bomb components were found. Police suspect it was a lowpressure explosive.
Nakhon Ratchasima Governor Suthee Boonmak made a 30minute visit to the store at 9am before telling reporters that the explosion was not serious and there seemed to be no intention to kill.
Police will investigate the forensic evidence and security camera footage to find the motive and the culprits, he added.
Pak Chong district chief Kaneethip Boonyaket said the bomb was likely to have been just a threat or to have stemmed from an internal conflict, rather than the ongoing political turmoil.
