Here is an excerpt of his statement.
“Last night, a regrettable situation took place. I insist that I never desire to see this thing happen. I intend to take time to solve the problem. I promise with all that I would be tender and patient. What happened at Makkhawan Bridge is already heartbroken. What more troubles do you want? Unforeseen incident happened. I was informed about what happened when I had not gone to bed yet. I did not sleep all night. I stayed up all night to follow up on the situation. Thorough investigation will be launched. I want to make it clear so I will not be accused of being behind the incident. When the situation reached this point, I have no alternative. I have chosen the least strict that is imposing State of Emergency in Bangkok to end this problem by law.

I beg you all. This is about the country. Do not let your hatred of me which I have no idea why, gather more protesters and do not touch people who create problems.

I will keep this bitterness in my heart and I will learn in the future what happens to this country that why people who work for the country are detested by society. They show hatred and revenge as if I am such an evil. On the contrary people who cause troubles to society and those who voice all comments never get mentioned. It is really sad for politicians and people who want to solve problems. I can tolerate. Once the situation happens, I will make a decision and I will be careful. I did not make decision on my own. Concerned agencies met and took two hours to prepare.

I do this to diffuse crisis and when every thing turns to normal situation. I insist this will not affect the way of life of people nationwide. They can continue their life as normal. I cannot diffuse the crisis in other ways. I need to use the tool I have. This will be carried out quickly and may create some consequences. Please be patient.

I make this announcement to seek understanding. I have the duty to keep peace and order and I urge all parties to take action. I ask all people to give cooperation. Officials will take action against people who call for uprising and turmoil that lead to misunderstanding. This can no longer be allowed because of State of Emergency.

For the union of 43 state enterprises that want to create chaos. I want to ask them if I am really a bad and evil that you have to stamp me into the ground. Have you ever thought that if you succeed what the country would be? Who will replace us? How do they enter and exit. People who cause the problem said if the government resigns, problem will not end. They said they want a new ruling system and want to topple the current ruling system. Why do not people understand? They have shown their colours. That is why we request the court for arrest warrants. I thought every thing would end, but it was not that way.
