The Stock Exchange of Thailand further slid in the afternoon of Tuesday, to lose 2.72 per cent or 18.36 points. In the morning, it plunged 12.62 points as soon as the market bell rang, following the previous night's violence which killed and injured a number of protesters.



At SET PresidenAt 3.47pm, the SET Index stood at 656.86 points.

SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai told a Thai TV station in the morning that the market stands ready for any sell-offs today. The board of directors meeting could be called as soon as it is needed. While the circuit breaker is on, ready to stop the trading for half an hour when the market value drops 10 per cent.

"At this point, there is still no need to take actions. Investors should also use their judgements and listen to brokers and analysts before making decisions," she told Thai PBS.
