Prapat leaves MRTA

Prapat Chongsanguan has resigned as governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), which is in charge of the development of several urban electric train routes.

Prapat resigned to run for the Bangkok governor election.

The MRTA board of directors convened on Monday to appoint the acting governor and consider the impacts of his resignation to the ongoing projects.

The MRTA now handles the Purple Line and the extened parts of the Blue Line. It plans to complete the bidding late this year, so that the construction can start early 2009. - The Nation
