Asiasoft's wholly owned subsidiary A Capital recently purchased 99 per cent of Fundbox's shares.
Asiasoft chief executive Pramoth Sudjitporn yesterday said Funbox markets two online games in Thailand. Asiasoft purchases the game licences and Funbox markets them.
Asiasoft has a wide network of Internet cafés nationwide, which will benefit Funbox's business.
"We need marketing experiences from Funbox, whereas Funbox can expand its user accounts through the Asiasoft network. As a result, Funbox business will boost Asiasoft's revenue," he said.
Funbox last year posted a loss of Bt7 million. Its performance improved in the first half this year by gaining a net profit of Bt500,000.
Asiasoft plans to launch four online games for the Thai market in the second half to boost net profit and to meet its target at over Bt300 million this year, according to Pramoth.
In the first half of the year, Asiasoft earned net profit of Bt113 million, slightly down from Bt115 million in corresponding period last year.
"Asiasoft in the first half had high expenses from marketing activities to promote two new online games. Those expenses ate some of our net profit in that period," he said.
The last quarter is the high season for online games due to several long holidays. Thus, the company has a strong belief that it can boost net prof
it to over Bt300 million, he said.Asiasoft
's net profit margin in the first half of the year was at 14 per cent, down from 16 per cent in the same period last year. Marketing expenses are expected to decline in the second half, so Asiasoft forecasts net profit margin will rebound to 16 per cent. The company also plans to launch a few online games in its overseas markets, including Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, in the second half of the year.Asiasoft says it is the major onlinegame provider in Thailand and Singapore.
