Dhipaya Insurance offers PA ans assets smart card

Those seeking insurance cover for personal accidents and assets can now do so by buying Dhipaya Insurance's smart cards.

They will receive oneyear pro¬tection immediately by scratching a card and registering the password via the contact centre on 02660 3455.

Customers can buy the cards at Dhipaya Insurance's 19 branches, while they will also be sold at Krung Thai Bank branches across the nation from September 15.

The cards are available in three types - TIP Smart Classic, TIP Smart Waisai and TIP Smart Asset. The first two provide accident cover while TIP Smart Asset is for asset protec¬tion, marketing development direc¬tor Nattaya Dhanarajata said yes¬terday.

TIP Smart Classic and TIP Smart Waisai provide two choices of pro¬tection period, six months and 12 months, for which the premiums are Bt650 and Bt1,200 respectively. These two cards, however, offer dif¬ferent protection.

TIP Smart Classic is designed for people aged five to 70. It provides Bt200,000 in the event of death from an accident in Thailand and Bt400,000 for accidental death overseas.

Persons suffering a permanent handicap are covered for up to Bt400,000. But if it's a motorcycle accident, the insured person will receive only 50 per cent.

Cardholders will get Bt20,000 of protection for hospital treatment as an inpatient plus Bt400 per day of income compensation while staying in a hospital for a maximum of 180 days.

The card also provides Bt10,000 of cover for body management in the event of death, but this protection is only effective 60 days after registra¬tion.

TIP Smart Waisai, which is designed for people aged five to 30, offers Bt200,000 protection for acci¬dental death and Bt1 million for per¬manent handicap, with a 50percent deduction for motorcycle acci¬dents.

Inpatient treatment and cases of dengue fever or food poisoning are covered for up to Bt20,000.

TIP Smart Asset provides protec¬tion for one year for assets in the insured person's home being stolen or damaged by a fire, flood, explo¬sion, earthquake, storm or aircraft.

There are three choices of pro¬tection: Bt100,000 with a Bt700 premium, Bt300,000 with a Bt1,900 premium and Bt500,000 with a Bt2,800 premium.

However, some assets are not protected, such as gold bars, ancient items worth more than Bt10,000, important documents and electronic appliances damaged by an electrical shortcircuit.

Nattaya said the cards resulted from a recent survey of Krung Thai Bank, the Government Savings Bank and the Government Housing Bank about the products they wanted.

"We found they prefer simple insurance products that combine extensive protection with cheap premiums, and they were interested in smart cards," said Nattaya.

Dhipaya Insurance expects to receive Bt120 million in premiums for the three new cards by the end of this year. It also intends to expand its distribution channel to the Government Savings Bank, Government Housing Bank and the Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives.
