Sanan warns of coup attempt

Deputy Prime Minister Sanan Kachornprasart on Monday warned the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) that their plan to stage an ultimate protest to oust the government tomorrow might instigate a coup.



Sanan said the government feared the PAD rally may bring a risk of a coup.

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej on Monday announced in a press conference how the government would brace for the PAD protest. The weekly Cabinet meeting will not be suspended on Tuesday.

Bangkok Police Chief Pol Lt General Assawin Kwanmuang said police would not block the PAD rally but would help facilitate the traffice under the condition they rallied within the frame of law.
