Manus gets silver
By The Nation
Defending champion Manus Boonjumnong had no match for the explosive punches of Dominican Felix Diaz and had to settle for an Olympics silver in the light welter final.
The Manus's wit and experience did not seem to help him escape from the series of heavy blows from the Dominican dark horse who claimed the gold medal with the score line of 12-4.
Manus is the first Thai in the history to win two Olympics medals. He won four years ago in Athens and was criticised for his playboy lifestyle which saw him waste all his multi-million incentive money.
Thailand has concluded the Beijing Olympics with two golds and two silvers. No Thais are scheduled to compete in the final day tomorrow.
