Homebuyers visit home boost at home show.

Landowners and homebuyers can avail themselves of special packages for building homes or buying new residential units at two events running between tomor¬row and next Sunday at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.

Home Builder 2008 starts tomor¬row and ends next Sunday, while Home Buyers' Expo 2008 runs from Thursday until Sunday. The events are expected to net Bt3.5 billion in sales: Bt1.5 billion from Home Builder 2008, and the rest from the Home Buyer Expo 2008. This will be part of an effort to boost property sales in the greater Bangkok area and maintain revenue of Bt70 billion to Bt75 billion - close to last year's fig¬ure of Bt72 billion.

Home Builder Association pres¬ident Panthep Thanchitikul said more than 50 other participating homebuilding companies, con¬structionmaterial manufacturers and major financial institutions would participate in Home Builder 2008. They will offer special pro¬motional packages to customers signing contracts at the event.

He said the event's theme, "Keep in Balance", would focus on building standards, designs, prices, con¬struction duration and the environ¬ment.

To make the event more attrac¬tive, the association is organising a special promotion in which it will offer a chance to win a grand Sculpture of Fertility, a 20baht gold prize and 10 other onebaht gold prizes. A baht is about 15.2 grams.

About 50 participating compa¬nies plan to launch more than 100 housing models that have never been showcased before. There will also be many other special activities at Home Builder 2008 for visitors, such as free blueprints of the houses (min¬imum photocopy cost applies), which can be used to apply for a per¬mit.

Windmill Architect managing director Somsak Rochdrongkul said his company would participate in the Home Builder 2008 show. It will offer its "Big Surprise" promotion for all 20 of its new housing models, with prices ranging from Bt6 million to Bt50 million, and other promo¬tions as part of the Metro Lifestyle Living Mode.

"We expect new deals worth at least Bt100 million," he said.

Home Buyer Guide managing director Borisut Kasinpila said buy¬ers at Home Buyers' Expo 2008 would be able to evaluate 500 resi¬dential projects worth up to Bt10 bil¬lion. Commercial banks and assetmanagement companies will show¬case 10,000 units worth about Bt10 billion for resale at the event.

Several commercial banks will offer special promotions on mort¬gage loans at the event, making the fourth quarter potentially a good one for homebuyers.

"We expect up to 120,000 visitors and sales of about Bt2 billion during the fourday event," he said.

Visitors will be able to evaluate new residential projects located close to nine new Skytrain and sub¬way routes, Borisut said.

"We believe this is a good time to buy a house, before interest rates rise and developers adjust prices, even though some rawmaterial prices are expected to drop. However, land prices and wages have continued to rise. This will drive housing prices 510 per cent higher by the end of the year," he said.
