No plans for a merger of Matchima Party: Kiartikorn

The Matchima Party has not planned a party merger and will continue to remain in the coalition alliance led by the People Power Party, MP Kiartikorn Pakpiansilp said on Thursday.

Kiartikorn said he stepped out under the instruction from his party's executive board to deny the merger speculation.

"Matchima will remain in the coalition government and it is inappropriate for MPs from other parties to speculate about my party's future," he said.

People Power MPs, including Ronrithichai Khankhet, speculated that Matchima might be penalised by party dissolution after the conviction of its executive Sunthorn Wilawan for electoral fraud.

Under the dissolution scenario, Matchima MPs might opt for the merger with the People Power or its new banner of Pua Thai Party if it was penalised by disbandment too.
