First-half revenue boost for CS Loxinfo

CS Loxinfo's first-half revenue grew by 2 per cent over the same period of 2007 to reach Bt1.299 billion.

Of that, around Bt656 million is from the second quarter, and represents gross profit of around Bt50 million (Bt0.9 per share), with 56 per cent coming from the Internet business, 32 per cent from the Yellow Pages business and 12 per cent from Shinee and Watta businesses.

The firm's revenue in the second quarter grew around 4 per cent while Teleinfo Media (TMC)'s revenue in the second quarter decreased by 2 per cent.

Anant Kaewruamvongs, managing director of CS Loxinfo, said that with the good performance in both quarters of the first half of this year, Bt643 million and Bt656 million, if the company could maintain the same revenue in the second half, by the end of the year total revenue would reach Bt2.6 billion.

In the second half of the year, the company plans to shift its core business from TMC's traditional paper-based Yellow Pages service to focus on TMC's online business and expansion of CS Loxinfo's leased-line business targeting corporate customers.

"The Internet dial-up market is decreasing. Internet users are moving to consumer broadband, so we will shift to providing leased-line Internet connections to small and medium enterprises. CS Loxinfo now has around 3,000 leased-line subscribers," said Anant.

Somchai Sinjananurux, managing director of TMC, said that in the second half of the year, TMC would launch a new search engine service on top of the existing Yellow Pages website.

"We invested around Bt10 million to buy a licence for Norway-based FAST search engine technology to enhance the search engine feature at the Yellow Pages' website. We aim to create revenue from paid listing advertising and it will be a core revenue source for us in the future. We will see significant growth in TMC's revenue by next year," said Somchai.

Anant said that due to the downturn in the dial-up Internet business and the limitation of today's broadband Internet belonging to the telephone companies, the company has to diversify to new value-added services on top of the Internet network.
