
The loss was huge despite the 12.6 per cent increase in revenue to Bt50.9 billion from Bt45 billion in the same period last year. In the statement to the Stock Exchange of Thailand, the company said that its operating expenses rose 20.3 per cent to Bt54.7 billion.
THAI said that in the second quarter, jet fuel cost rose 73 per cent on year, while the company suffered from the low travelling season. The national carrier also posted higher depreciation cost for aircraft and new engines. In the first six months of this year, forex losses accounted for Bt5.69 billion.
