Saravud dismisses Thaksin's claim
Office of the Court of Justice secretary-general Saravud Benchakul on Monday dismissed former Prime Minister Thasin Shinawatra's claim for not returning to fight graft charges that there had been interference in the justice system.
Suravud insisted the country's judicial system was independent, fair and free from interference.
In his statement read out on a state-run NBT TV channel on Monday, Thaksin accused the country's legal system of employing "double standard" in their proceeding with legal matters against him and his family.
Suravud however declined to say if Thaksin's statement is regarded as a contempt of court.
Saravud said Thailand and the United Kingdom had ratified the extradition treaty under the conditions that the wrongdoing is defined as an offence by both countries, the offence has the penalty more than one-year imprisonment and the case is non-political.
Thaksin said he and his family would remain in exile in England indefinitely and did not say when he would return to the country.
