Steel prices boost Asia Metal

Asia Metal Plc returned to a net profit of Bt183.44 million in the second quarter, compared to a loss of Bt35.84 million in the same period last year, due to the increase in hot rolled steel price.

Aside from higher prices, the company witnessed a higher sale volume by 7.37 per cent on year, the company said in the statement to the Stock Exchange.

Meanwhile, two joint ventures with combined investment of Bt30.50 million will be established to expand its steel business. The 55-per cent-owned Asia Metal Fabrication Co Ltd will purchase and sell installation steel structure operator. Meanwhile, 51-per cent-owned Vientiane Bonded Warehouse Co Ltd will operate a service warehouse along the Thai-Laos border.
