EC sets deadline for Samak to give statement

Election Commission (EC) refused to allow Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and People Power Party (PPP) secretary-general Surapong Suebwonglee to postpone giving statements on the PPP party dissolution case, chairman Apichart Sukhagganond said on Thursday.

Apichart said both were scheduled to give statements to a panel probing the party dissolution, headed by Prateep Puangwong, on Thursday but they postponed to August 27.

The EC has set on August 13 as a new deadline that they must give their statements and they can give statements in writing and not personally, Apichart said.
