China bars Thai fruit imports from third country
By The Nation
China has imposed a ban on the imports of Thai fruits via third country, particularly those which are shipped through R9 Road, on fear of contamination.
Soraphol Seraphat, director of the national food and agricultural products standard office, said the action plans were proposed with help from the private and public sector in Mukdahan, to solve the problem. The measures would require Thai officers to thoroughly inspect the export containers and issue the hygiene certificates. Meanwhile, the container temperature must be maintained during the shipment.
"China has approved the action plans and this should benefit Thailand. It should also pave way for the exports of more Thai fruits to China, via other routes," he said.
R9, starting from Thailand's Mukdahan province, passes Laos and Vietnam and reaches China in Quangxi province.
