The project -worth US$300 million (Bt10.1 billion)- is expected to
begin next month and will be completed in 42 months, A-Power said in a statement. National Power Supply is a subsidiary of Advance Agro.
"This project represents a significant milestone for A Power as it will be our largest distributed-power project and second major project with National Power Supply in Thailand,"said Jinxiang Lu, A-Power's chairman and CEO.
"In addition to this contract, we signed an agreement with them in April to construct a 300MW distributed-power system and are in discussions for other multiple opportunities,"he said.
Lu also sees greater business opportunity in Thailand and other Southeast Asian nations.
"Through the company's track record, efficient distributed power system design and ability to quickly develop new high-quality systems, A-Power is well positioned for major contract wins in this region."
A-Power Energy Generation Systems is the largest provider of distributed-power generation systems in China and will enter into China's wind energy market in 2008. The company is also focused on developing and commercialising additional renewable energy technologies and has strategic relationships with both Tsinghua University and the China Sciences Academy in Guangzhou.
National Power Supply has also signed a contract to construct a 540MW coal-fired plant and supply power to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.
