Vibrant colours to promote a cause

Siam City Hotel is hosting a watercolour art exhibition, "Bangkok", by Saroj Tangtrisanakul, a painter without hands, from now to August 1 at the hotel's City Gallery, from 10am to 8pm.

More than 60 exquisite watercolour paintings are on display, illustrating the simplicity of life and the importance of popular places in Thai culture. Daily activities, such as a visit to a temple, reflect a society close to the artist's heart. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Thailand Foundation for the Handicapped.

A special norah performance

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre is organising a special norah performance, free for the public, today at 5.30pm at the centre.

The special performance will be staged by a well-known norah troupe, Phong Phi Nong, from Bajoh district, Narathiwat province. Norah is a traditional performance that features southern-style dance, music and a monologue. Despite its past glory, a norah performance is a rarity these days with the number of troupes dwindling. A simultaneous Yawi translation will be provided during the show.

The centre is located on Boramrajachonanee Road in Talingchan.

Call (02) 880 9429, ext 3315.
