A replica of the Siam Guardian Angel has been stolen from an altar at Tang Kuan Hill in Songkhla province. Smaller Buddha images were taken, too.

The two-foot tall brass figure was among four figures at altars built many years ago at the hill, a popular tourist attraction.

The company operating the elevator to the hill and owning the altars alerted Muang Songkhla Municipality to the missing replica.

Manager Sanchai Ajjanangkool says two additional guards will watch the hill at night.

Provincial police chief MajGeneral Wirun Iamphaijit says thieves could have been hired by artefact and amulet traders.
