Diesel-import plan is news to Poonpirom

Energy Minister Poonpirom Liptapanlop said she had not been told about the Agriculture Ministry's plan to import diesel from Malaysia.

However, any company importing oil must abide by the Energy Act, which requires it to set aside 5 per cent of distribution volume in reserve.

Meanwhile, shipping companies plan to ask for an allocation of cheap diesel provided by the PTT Group, aside from shrimp farmers and truckers. The National Energy Policy Committee will consider their proposals. - The Nation
