Govt's six relief measures welcomed: Suan Dusit Poll

A clear majority of more than 66 per cent in Bangkok and upcountry have approved the six relief measures which the government will enforce for six months to help the people cope with economic woes, Suan Dusit Poll said on Friday.

Bangkok residents said they found the reduction of excise charges for diesel and gasohol as a most helpful measure while villagers said they were most satisfied with the suspension of price hike for cooking gas.

For wage earners with less than Bt10,000 salary, the free bus ride is the most favourite measure. For those with more than Bt10,00 salary, the freeze of cooking gas price is the most welcomed measure.

About 51 per cent said they expected their livelihood to improve.
