The workers for Ch. Karnchang construction firm left their heavy and light weight construction equipment worth an estimate Bt100 million and crossed back to the Thai side of the border from Cambodia's Udommedchai province yesterday as fear increased about possible violence stemming from the disputed temple.
On the same morning, another 2,000 Cambodian troops were deployed at strategic areas along the border claiming to be protecting tourists, local residents and traders.
Hattachai Pengchaem, Deputy Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce for Foreign Affairs said trading along the border between the two nations have suffered over the past three days now.
He advised Thai tourists not to talk about the issue of the disputed temple with Cambodians for their own safety. Hattachai added however that he believes that there will be no violent clashes between the two nations as governments from both sides believe that the current tension is a result of domestic political scheme in Thailand.
