IATA slams EU move
The International Air Transport Association has slammed the European Parliament move to bring aviation into the European Emissions Trading Scheme. "It's absolutely the wrong answer to the very serious issue of environment," said director-general Giovanni Bisignani.
The decision will apply the conditions of the emission-trading scheme to all aircraft flying to or from Europe, and there is fear that Europe's unilateral and extraterritorial approach - without any international agreements - will lead to international legal battles.
