PM told to work instead of rehashing rumours

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva on Friday urged the prime minister to focus on tackling the country's problems, such as rising inflation, instead of making speculative comments.

"The prime minister should avoid rehashing rumours which will eventually backfire to undermine his own government," Abhisit said.

He was referring to remarks by Samak Sundaravej about plans to remove him from office and to arrest him upon his return from China and Brunei today.

If the plans were true, then the government should take legal action against ill-intentioned people, he said. The rehashing of rumours will only demoralise the public, he added.
