Jakrapob says his case politicised

Former PM's Office minister Jakrapob Penkair Wednesday blamed politics for his misfortune to face the criminal investigation on a charge of lese majesty stemming from his remark last August.

Jakrapob spoke after filing additional evidence to defend himself at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB).

Investigators said, meanwhile, that they cannot set a deadline to wrap up the case because the investigative report will have to undergo two separate reviews at the CIB and the Police headquarters before reaching public prosecutors.

"My case is politicized, hence the charge that should not have happened, happens," Jakrapob said.

He said he was cooperating fully with the police's work. The case will give him the opportunity to prove his loyalty to the monarchy and to prove his innocence to political opponents, he added.

He criticized his opponents for invoking the revered institution to destroy him politically.

Commenting on the translation of his remark made in English, he said no one could better read his mind than himself.
