The Department of Export Promotion has asked the government to set aside a budget of Bt550 million to support its plans next year.

Director-general Rachane Potjanasuntorn said the department would mainly allocate the budget to promote export growth to new potential markets and reduce logistics costs - a major obstacle to export growth.

The department has Bt26.9 million left in the export fund for next year's promotional plans.

Raimon Land has secured a Bt5-billion project loan for The River, its largest project to date.

The loan is a syndicated facility provided by Standard Chartered Bank (Thai), TMB Bank and Siam City Bank. It will be used to fund the development cost of The River.

The River, located on the banks of the Chao Phya, has a targeted sales value of Bt13 billion. The value of unit sales to date has exceeded Bt7 billion, or about 54 per cent of the project value.

Schindler lifts prices

Jardine Schindler (Thai) has increased its elevator prices by 8 per cent and those of its escalators and moving walkways by 6 per cent.

The company attributed the move to continuing increases in costs of fuel, commodities and speciality metals, resulting in unavoidable increases in manufacturing and product transportation. It said improvements in production efficiency and sourcing had minimised the full impact.

Liquid sweetness

Mitr Phol Group has delivered two new premium-quality liquid sugar products, Sucrosweet and Inversweet. The group has also established Thailand's first liquid-sugar plant. The facility in Dan Chang, Suphan Buri, has an investment of about Bt200 million.
