Reports of Thaksin assassination true?

Supreme Commander General Boonsang Niampradit said on Monday former supreme commander General Chaiyasit Shinawatra would not make up rumours about attempted assassination on former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra last night without a reason.

Boonsang said he heard about the report last night but not in detail. He said concerned agencies would find more detail adding that such reports are often released so intelligent officials have to find out if they have grounds.

Asked if such reports would cause insecurity in society, Boonsang said Chaiyasit was former supreme commander and would not make up stories. "The report will carry weight or not depends on whether he file a complaint with police or not,'' Boonsang said.

He said the military had not been instructed to deploy security officials to protect Thaksin.
