Pichit faces being delisted as lawyer

The Law Society of Thailand will today meet to decide on the punishment against Pichit Chuenban, lawyer of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra who was sentenced to six months in jail for contempt of court over the attempted bribery allegation.

Sithichok Srichok, chairman of the LST ethic committe said 15 LST board members will meet in the evening on the case.

He said Pichit is expected to be delisted from the LST and banned from being a lawyer for five years. He said from the LST record, few lawyers who were delisted were allowed to be listed again.

He said Pichit committed a grave offence and all LST lawyers could not accept the practice. He said lawyers have duty to protect not only their clients' interest but maintain the justice system.
