Chevron awards pipeline contract
Chevron Offshore (Thailand) has awarded a US$20-million (Bt672 million) contract to Clough for the installation of 11 undersea pipelines in the Gulf of Thailand.
The work's scope is part of Chevron's installation programme for this year. Each pipeline connects a new well-head platform to a host facility, the host facility's tie-in point being an existing platform or an existing undersea assembly.
Chevron earlier was granted an audience with Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to present a Bt56.7-million donation to the Phra Dabos Foundation under His Majesty the King's patronage as part of the "Chevron for Phra Dabos Foundation" campaign.
Drive for more Elite Card members
Thailand Privilege Card (TPC) plans to spend Bt280 million on roadshows to China, Japan and South Korea as part of its effort to recruit 500 new Thailand Elite Card members this year. Chairman Sorajak Kasemsuvan yesterday said the new member target was lowered from 800 in the revised business plan for the second half of the year.
He insisted TPC was operating as usual despite being the subject of an evaluation by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Phuket rakes in Bt94 bn in 2007
Suwalai Pinpradab, director of the Region 4 office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand in the South, has announced more than 5 million tourists visited Phuket last year, spending a total of Bt94.239 billion. She predicts there will be 6 million visitors to the island this year. - Phuket Gazete
