"Until now the Preah Vihear Border remained closed temporarily after the Thais allowed the protestors rallied near the border", Ros Heng, the chief of Cambodian Preah Vihear Border Checkpoint told Rasmei Kampuchea on June 23.
The decision was made for security reason in order to avoid any possible clash between the Cambodian people who live near the border and the Thai demonstrators, he added.
Phay Siphan, an information official of the council of ministers, said that in Cambodia, the opposition also voiced their protest against the registration of Preah Vihear as world heritage site, claiming that because of the registration, Cambodian will lose its land.
In fact we will not lose anything. The World Heritage Committee will register only the Preah Vihear Temples, he added, he said.
Some of the Thai people also opposed to list the temples as world heritage site because they have misunderstanding and they were instigated by the Thai opposition party, he said.
Preab Tan, the governor of Preah Vihear province, accompanied by police and soldiers, went to the border on Monday to look at the situation.
The Cambodia officials can not sat when the border will reopen.
