Safe computing for beginners

Trend Micro, a global leader in Internet-content security, has introduced new software for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand employing between five and 100 employees.

"Small and medium-sized businesses are growing rapidly in the Asia-Pacific, including Thailand," said Lionel Phang, vice president for Asia-Pacific sales.

"And today, employees of SMEs take more online risks than do those of large enterprises. So Trend Micro is launching the new Worry-Free Security Solutions for SMEs and the first e-commerce security in Thailand.

Trend Micro is also launching its first Affinity Partner Programme to penetrate the SME market in Thailand."

Country sales manager Rathasiri Kaikaew said the new solution would be available next month and that the company was targeting sales growth of 30 per cent for the SME market. Trend Micro also announced its first Affinity Partner Programme in Thailand, to enhance customer satisfaction by having all participating partners enjoy solution knowledge and technical support capability from the company. More than 20 partners are interested in joining the programme.

The new solution is suitable for SMEs and e-commerce sites that require smarter, better-performing technology to conquer a more sophisticated Web threat landscape that has mutated beyond conventional viruses and spam. In addition to conventional protection against spyware, viruses, spam, phishing and inappropriate Web content, users will benefit from the "location awareness" feature that automatically changes security settings on laptops, depending if employees are inside or outside the office.

Company data is protected even when employees are using an outside wireless connection. The programme includes Web Threat Protection tracks and identifies risky websites, preventing data theft, damaged computing resources and inflection. The new Worry-Free line provides multiple-layer spam protection by blocking "spam in the cloud" before it reaches corporate networks.
