CDMA subscriber base expands in the first quarter, says CDG

The CDMA industry continued to show strong growth in the first quarter, CDMA Development Group (CDG) said.



The CDMA subscriber base has increased by about 17 per cent over the past year, reaching 451 million worldwide. The number of CDMA2000 and CDMA2000 1xEV-DO subscribers has reached 438 million and 97 million, respectively. 

The Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions (EMEA) registered the highest year-on-year percentage subscriber growth for CDMA2000, while the Americas and EMEA saw the highest percentage of subscriber growth for CDMA2000 1xEV-DO.  The number of CMDAOneTM and CDMA2000 subscribers in APAC rose to 231 million, accounting for 51 per cent of the total number of subscribers worldwide.
