True Corporation has joined hands with IBM to transform, integrate and streamline their back-office infrastructure using service-oriented architecture (SOA).
The company has consolidated three businesses - True Move (mobile-phone service), True Online (fixed line and value-added services such as broadband Internet) and True Vision (paid-television service). The transformation and integration exercise will allow for smoother business processes such as order management, user registration, billing and payment and customer-support services.
SOA makes use of a company's existing technology to boost efficiency, cut costs and increase productivity. It integrates software in such a way that functions can be shared by different departments, regardless of platforms, programming languages and infrastructure technology.
