Ban Tharnthip school director Abdulloh Ja-oh said the killing of a fellow teacher, Harit Sa-I, on Wednesday had jolted all 27 teachers and seven Buddhist teachers had asked for a transfer.
Abdulloh said Ban Tharnthip had been at the frontline of violent clashes between security forces and insurgents over the past four years. The school had been set on fire twice and gunfights between security forces and insurgents in the area had resulted in several deaths.
The school has yet to fully recover from the arson attacks and the village mosque is serving as a temporary classroom for some of the 460 students, he said.
