SAS Software, the leader in business-intelligence software, has forged a strategic alliance with Teradata, the leader in enterprise data warehousing, which is more than a common partnership.
"This is not an ordinary partnership but a new business model that is [making both companies come] close together," Kwanchai said.
"Other partnerships may be like friends, but we're like a girlfriend and a boyfriend," he said.
SAS and Teradata executives have not ruled out that the relationship between their companies can be further developed into a full "marriage" in the future, though each will run separately at least for the time being.
The partnership - which was first announced last year in October - is for integrating some SAS and Teradata products for optimising benefits for users. The two companies have also set up joint marketing, sales, services and product-development teams.
General manager of Teradata, Thailand, Jason Shipman said the integration of SAS and Teradata software helps reduce data processing time by 30 to 40 times, so tasks that used to need 16 to 20 hours earlier can now be completed within minutes.
Customers will have to pay a little extra for the integrated software, but they will save more from investing in hardware to speed up the processing time of their database, he said.
