Democrat moves to extend AEC's term

The Democrat Party is planning to draft a bill to extend the term of the Assets Examination Commitee, deputy party leader Alongkorn Polabutr said on Tuesday.

Alongkorn said the AEC should continue working to handle the corruption cases that have been accepted by the court. He said that under the political circumstances of politial interference in the justice system, the public can not be confident that the corruption cases would be handled with justice. If this is the scene, the social divisions and political confrontation would continue.

Sunai Manomaiudom, director-general of the Department of Special Investigation and Kanyanut Sorthip, director-general of the Department of Legal Execution have been transferred from their post. The AEC has also been discredited and charged with libel suits, he said.
