2 killed, 4 injured in spate of attacks in deep South

A gunman on the back of a pickup truck shot and killed a former enlisted soldier and injured his friend while the two were riding pillion on motorbike in the backroad in this southernmost province Tuesday.



Koseng Talehdiyoh, 25, died at the scene while Mahming Long, 20, who suffered severe neck injuries from two bullet wound, was rushed to the nearby hospital in Rangae district.

Police said the gunman jumped off the pickup truck to unload two more rounds on the two victims and quick sped away.

In Pattani's Yarang district, a roadside bomb went off injuring two soldiers while carryout out foot patrol. Police said the bomb was set off manually through electrical wire linked to a detonator about 100 metres away from where the bomb was placed.

In Yaring district of the same province, gunmen shot dead a village chief and injured his associate as the two were travelling.
