Berli Jucker unit buys Jacy Foods

Berli Jucker subsidiary Berli Jucker Foods has purchased a 100-per-cent stake in the Malaysian snack company Jacy Foods from Quinet Kaya.



Executive vice president Pattaphong Iamsuro said the move was part of the company's expansion into the global market, as Jacy Foods produces potato chips and snacks in Malaysia and also exports to Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Brunei.

Berli Jucker recorded sales of Bt5.54 billion and net profit of Bt266.46 million in the first quarter.

Go for Jazz in Mirinda contest

Mirinda has partnered with the "07 Show", a popular variety programme on Channel 7, to launch the Bt1-million "Get Gold + Fun Ride with Mirinda" campaign celebrating the start of the new school term.

For a chance to win a Honda Jazz or one of 27 gold necklaces worth Bt10,000 each, contestants must send a Mirinda or Seven-Up bottle-cap together with their address to PO Box 1, Klongjan, Bang Kapi, Bangkok 10240 from June 8 to August 16.

The first lucky draw will be held on July 6 and aired live on the "07 Show".

Sports discounts at The Mall Group

The Mall Group is launching "Sports Mall Euro 2008", offering discounts of up to 70 per cent for sportswear and accessories until the end of the month.

The campaign is designed to drive sales in the current quarter, said senior manager Sonthorn Surileunkajorn. 

Doosan Heavy wins Thai contract

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, South Korea's largest power-equipment maker, said yesterday that it had received two orders worth a combined 1.14 trillion won (Bt35.9 billion) for equipment to build plants in South Korea and Thailand, according to a Yonhap report.

The company won an 834-billion-won deal from Thailand's Gheco-One to provide power equipment and a 305-billion-won deal from Korea Southern Power, it said in regulatory filings.
