Network accuses Samak over charter change

The People's Network Against Corruption secretary-general Weera Somkwamkid yesterday filed a complaint with the National Counter Corruption Commission accusing Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej of violating criminal law for seeking to amend the Constitution.

Weera also accused House Speaker Chai Chidchob, PM's Office Minister Choosak Sirinin and 158 MPs and senators who had pushed for the motion to amend the Constitution of the same offence. He accused the group of intentionally trying to scrap Articles 237 and 309 of the Constitution in order to help the People Power Party from being dissolved and to rescue former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Weera said he was gathering evidence of malfeasance against Police Maj-General Amnuay Nimmano for allowing pro-government groups to attack the People's Alliance for Democracy protesters, leaving many of them injured.
